Surgical Guide Housings
Sterilizable, serialized housings with dimensional reports — helping a surgical robotics startup move from lab bench to clinical trials.
Overview
A surgical robotics startup needed instrument guide housings that could survive repeated sterilization, mate perfectly with machined components, and carry full lot traceability for their clinical trial documentation. Voxelcrest produced the housings in biocompatible PPSU with serialized tracking and inspection reports on every unit.
The Challenge
Steam autoclave cycles warp ordinary plastics, and trial regulators require proof — not promises — that every housing meets drawing. The parts also had to assemble by hand in a sterile field, with tactile snap-fits a gloved operator could feel.
Our Approach
We qualified PPSU through 50 autoclave cycles, tuned snap-fit geometry across three prototype rounds with the client's surgeons, and built a serialized inspection workflow: every housing measured, logged, and shipped with its own dimensional report.
50 cycles
of steam sterilization with zero dimensional drift in qualification.
100% serialized
with individual dimensional reports for trial documentation.
